Rainbow Families' Family Conference will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 8 AM-5 PM at Georgetown Day High School, 4200 Davenport St NW, Washington, DC 20016. This year's conference lead sponsors are Georgetown Day School and McLean School.
The conference is the largest gathering of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+)-headed family community in the region. The conference covers family planning workshops and panels for prospective parents and parent education workshops and panels for LGBTQ+ parents.
Our Conference is a day full of both educational and social events, featuring activities and sessions that allow LGBTQ+ families to not only learn more about the topics that matter to them, but also to build on their own community of support.
Diverse Workshops & Presentations
Featuring information and tools for LGBTQ+ families, prospective parents, allies, and for people who work with LGBTQ+ families. Topics covered will include:

- Educating Our Children, Welcoming Schools;
- Raising Our Children, Parenting & Healthy Families;
- Navigating Our Communities & Institutions, Changing Hearts & Minds; &
- Legal, Legislative, and Financial Hot Topics
Kids’ Camp
A full-day of fun, engaging and nurturing activities for children 2.5 years old through elementary school age
Resource & Provider Fair
Information and resources from welcoming DMV area service providers, schools, businesses, and organizations
Tween & Teen Programs by COLAGE
Day of programs provides opportunities for creativity, recreation and deep discussion and a safe environment to connect with other youth who are part of an LGBTQ+ family (Learn more about COLAGE here.)
Registration Fees
The adult registration fee listed below includes continental breakfast, opening session, a full day of workshops, lunch and ice cream social. The Kids' Camp registration fee includes continental breakfast, a full day of age-appropriate activities, lunch and ice cream social. Registration fees are non-refundable and will be used for the attendance grant fund.
Early Adult Registration through April 16:
Members: $50 per person
Non-Members: $85 per person
Late Adult Registration - April 17 through May 2:
Members: $70 per person
Non-Members: $105 per person
Adult ON-SITE Registration:
Members: $85 per person
Non-members: $120 per person
Kids’ Camp Registration through April 16 ONLY:
Members: $30 per child
Non-Members: $50 per child
Tween/Teen Programming by COLAGE Registration through April 16 ONLY:
Members: $30 per child
Non-Members: $50 per child
If you are not currently a member of Rainbow Families, you will have an opportunity to activate your membership ($35 annual fee) prior to registering for the conference. The Family Conference is entirely self-supported and is financed by conference registration fees and the generous support of our sponsors. Because of our sponsors, we are able to offer a registration fee that is much lower than the actual per person cost to attend. Please be sure to thank our sponsors for their support of this program and our community.
Family Assistance Fund: If the conference registration fees present a barrier from you and your family attending the conference, please email info@rainbowfamilies.org to discuss alternative arrangements. We never want a financial barrier to stand in the way of your ability to attend the conference.
